Keep your small business customers motivated

While it’s true that running a small business keeps its owner busy, there’s still the risk of falling into a rut, just like with any job. There are some tips you can offer those demotivated small business owners in your care to help them feel good about going to work each day.

Nothing generates a sense of accomplishment like completing projects. On the flip side, projects that hang around and are never closed off breed a sense of failure. If that’s the case, suggest to your small business customers that they review the projects they currently have on the go, and ditch the ones that aren’t going anywhere and won’t be profitable. Then draw up a schedule that will see the remaining projects through the final stages of completion. It’s one of the best and most effective ways to get them and their staff feeling motivated again.

Speaking of their staff, it’s also a good idea to make sure that they have the tools they need to do their job right. If their staff are feeling de-motivated, it could be because they lack the necessary training or equipment. And remember – social occasions are important, they promote a feeling of team spirit and they get to blow off a bit of steam with the boss.
