As Canadian entrepreneurs will be aware, it’s coming up to Small Business Week in Canada. This is an annual event organized by the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) and has been going for almost 40 years.
Beginning on October 16 and finishing on October 22, over 10,000 people get together at hundreds of events across the country to network, learn and celebrate entrepreneurship. If you’re a small business banker, and you haven’t heard of this awesome event, it’s time to check it out – it’s a great excuse to get together with business friends and take a trip to one of the events, or to see if there’s anything near you.
For example, if you live in Vancouver you might be interested in hearing BDC’s CEO, Michael Denham, talk about tackling Canada’s productivity gap, and how it all starts with small business owners.
Or you might want to travel further afield in BC, and attend one of the many events taking place in Richmond, like App Design & Development or making the transition from unemployment to business ownership.
BDC’s Small Business Week website is the best place to start. You can find events near you, dates, resources, and interesting small business facts like their infographic on SMEs in numbers… which show that small business is BIG in Canada!
