SEO is something that pops up a lot. And well it should, because it’s a sadly overlooked, yet very important part of running a successful business website. All too often business owners think that creating a great site and filling it with interesting content is all that’s needed. And while this is important, it’s also useless if no-one can find it.
That’s what SEO is about. Search Engine Optimization – it’s basically about making sure a website can be found by internet search engines – namely, Google. When people type keywords into Google, good SEO will help a business website to feature high in the results.
On Google, few people click on a result that is fourth or fifth in the list, and hardly ever do people look at the second page of results. So if a website can ensure it’s one of the top few results when someone does a relevant search on Google, it’s much more likely for that person to visit the site.
Everything should be geared to optimizing SEO as much as possible, and how Google can help achieve that. The more a website’s content is geared towards what Google is looking for, the better its ranking will be.
